The Yorkshire Dales National Park is an enticing mixture of green valleys, open moorland, sparkling rivers and streams, dry stone walls and traditional villages.

The southern section covers some of the most popular and well-known areas. The romantic ruins of Bolton Abbey, set on the banks of the River Wharf make a great spot for a picnic; the small village of Malham marks the start of one of the most popular and beautiful walks in the Yorkshire Dales through stunning lime stone country; and pretty villages in beautiful countryside are scattered throughout the area.

To the east of the park boundaries lies the spectacular ruins of 12th century Fountains Abbey set in the beautiful water gardens of Studley Royal.
