Lancashire’s far north borders both North Yorkshire and Cumbria and is an excellent place for some off-the-beaten-track walking and cycling, while most visitors are bypassing the area to get to the mountains of the Lake District or the rolling valleys of the Yorkshire Dales.

Close to Lancashire’s northern border, the river Lune meanders through the beautiful Lune Valley. Lined with verdant pastures, ancient stone villages, traditional country pubs and pretty churches, the valley has been the inspiration for many poets and artists and offers some surprisingly quiet walking country, for such a charming and easily accessible area.
