With the fine architecture of the university colleges, pretty winding lanes and beautiful, wide streets, filled with stunning buildings, wandering through Oxford is a joy. Add to that some of the country’s finest museums, excellent pubs and restaurants, and a lovely setting at the meeting of two rivers, and it is easy to see why Oxford is a popular stop.

Just north of Oxford sits the attractive market town of Woodstock, with its fine stone buildings and an interesting collection of independent shops. Woodstock is also the gateway to one of England’s most majestic stately homes: Blenheim Palace. The estate was gifted to the Duke of Marlborough by Queen Anne in 1704 and remains owned by the family today. The striking house and vast parklands make a wonderful day out.
