Burns Night

Friday 20 - Thursday 26 January 2017

Scotland's celebrated national poet, Robert Burns, is honoured with a evening of feasting and dance on 25 January every year. The main event of the evening is the Burns Supper, when a traditional Scottish meal of 'haggis neeps and tatties' is served together with whisky and a recital of Burns’ poetry.

At a traditional Burns Night supper, guests will stand as the chef brings the haggis to the table, accompanied by bagpipe music. The ‘Address to a Haggis‘ is then recited along with a toast raised to “The Haggis!” (with a dram of whisky of course!).

The evening is celebrated all over Britain and there are plenty of restaurants across the country which provide all the food, drink and music necessary for a suitably merry evening.  The links below give some ideas of where to eat in both London and Edinburgh.
