This ten day event in central London includes a wide variety of events both on the river itself and along the banks and bridges.
As well as food stalls, markets, music and art work that will line the banks of the river, highlights include: a waterborne opera; the world’s slowest and most colourful river race; the Great River Race; and a variety of talks about the history of the Thames, some of which take place on cruises along the Thames.
More information about the variety of events available can be found on the Mayor’s Thames Festival website (below).
Getting there: The heart of the festival takes place between Lambeth Bridge and St Katherine’s Dock, near Tower Bridge. The best tube stations to access this part of the Thames are Waterloo, London Bridge and Tower Hill, all of which are also mainline rail stations.
