York's fascinating history, impressive Minster and wide array of well-preserved buildings from across the centuries make it a justifiably popular stop.
York Minster, with its stunning gothic architecture, is the largest medieval cathedral in northern Europe and a must-see sight. The network of winding lanes and alleyways surrounding the minster are great for exploring and are all encased in York’s 13th Century city walls. York’s fascinating Viking history can also be discovered at the interesting Jorvik Viking Centre.
