While not having Edinburgh’s historic appeal or obvious beauty, Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city, is a lively, friendly city with plenty of attractions.
Glasgow has a fascinating mixture of architecture – the stunning gothic arches of the fifteenth century cathedral, converted eighteenth century warehouses, impressive Victorian townhouses and the many works of one of Glasgow’s most famous exports: Rennie Mackintosh. His Glasgow School of Art is a must see.
Glasgow is also home to several world class museums and galleries, including Kelingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Glasgow Science Centre, the ultra-modern Riverside Museum and the Gallery of Modern Art.
Glasgow’s varied nightlife is one of its highlights. From excellent restaurants to lively bars, a range of music venues and dance-til-dawn nightclubs, there is plenty going on.
