The stunning coastline is the South West’s key draw and nowhere in Britain receives more hours of sunshine than the beautiful coast of south Devon.
South Devon has an eclectic range of seaside settlements, with something to suit everyone. The resort town of Torquay combines a Riviera style promenade, classic English seaside attractions and a lively nightlife.
The eastern stretch of coast is home to the genteel, historic resort of Sidmouth, some wonderful unspoilt fishing villages, such as Beer and Branscombe, beautiful, isolated beaches and coves and excellent coastal walking.
West of Torquay you will find the appealing harbour town of Brixham, where a healthy tourism industry and a busy fishing port work in perfect harmony. The upmarket, attractive town of Dartmouth, which tumbles down the hillsides to the mouth of the River Dart, offers interesting shopping, good restaurants, a castle ruin and access to beautifully situated Greenway, the former home of Agatha Christie. Devon’s far south-west is home to yet more pretty villages and beautiful coastline.
